The thing is actually made in China. When I opened the box, you could still smell the solvent from the finish. We put in our bedroom. Days later my wife and I were feeling sick and isolated it to the secretary. It has been outside since (3 weeks) and it still smells. My wife and I feel much better, but I'm not sure when the thing will be brought back inside.

I love this mini secretary desk. It fits perfectly into the space I had available. The carvings are attractive; and it works as a laptop/ bill paying area. It does wobble a bit, so we have stabilized it. It is also very light weight, but that is not unexpected given its very reasonable price.

We were looking for a very small desk to use as a computer desk (laptop)/bill paying center/kids' school papers/mail drop place. But we only had this one small corner of our dining room to use. This desk is perfect for that. It holds everything neatly in one place, and it has three drawers to shove office supplies, or junk or whatever. I drilled a tiny hole in the back to run the computer cord through and it works great. The desk arrived[...]already assembled except for screwing the leg on, which was nice. It's even smaller than you might think, but it works great for what it is. All our pending bills, office supplies, computer, stationery is in one place now.

I placed the order on a Sunday and got the delivery the following Wednesday. There was no assembly required other than screw in the feet. The piece came extremely well packaged, so there was no damage. Does not get any better than this :-)
